What is Morbid Obesity?

Morbid obesity is a condition characterized by an individual weighing 100 or more pounds than their ideal body weight. Obesity is measured by using the body mass index (BMI), the mathematical formula for which is weight in kg/lbs divided by the square of height in meters/inches.

An individual with a BMI between 25 and 29.9 is considered overweight. A BMI over 30 makes one obese, and one is morbidly obese if the BMI is above 40. Use the calculator given here to determine your BMI.
